The BA East Asian Studies with Foundation Year course is designed to prepare you to cover topics such as history, society, business and literature. The BA East Asian Studies course will immerse you in languages and cultures of East Asian countries and allows you to gain a unique perspective on the contemporary development of East Asia.
The degree programme is flexible and allows you to choose from a variety of modules that you can tailor to your own strengths and interests, covering East Asia as a whole or focusing on one particular country.
Foundation Year
The foundation year of the programme provides people with non-standard entry qualifications a thorough and supportive academic preparation for successful degree level study in the School of East Asian Studies. It is carefully designed to build your confidence in your abilities, develop essential academic and study skills, and provide the subject specific knowledge essential for success.
This foundation year is taught within the Department for Lifelong Learning, where we have nearly forty years’ experience working with adult learners, helping them to unlock their potential to succeed through offering accessible foundation courses that can lead to full and part-time degree level study. You'll be learning alongside other students who are studying for a number of different degrees, typically in small classes, supporting one another to develop and succeed.
