Sustainable development is a crucial global agenda addressing the multiple crises facing the world today. It involves the establishment of equitable social and economic relations supporting responsible use of environmental resources. Good governance is an integral component of this transformation.
This master's degree equips you with analytical skills and deepens your understanding of sustainable development in theory, policy and practice. You will develop a critical understanding of global governance issues, approaches and instruments that pertain to sustainable development, and gain skills to lead and manage change in a global environment, working for public, private and third-sector agencies.
You can also choose to study Global Governance and Sustainable with Professional Experience , and complete a 12-month industry placement, gaining real-world experience while studying.

What will you learn?
You will develop critical sustainability skills and knowledge that are increasingly in demand as sustainable development becomes a global priority. You will also build governance expertise, including policy evaluation and equity, diversity and inclusion, skills that are highly valued by intergovernmental organisations, governments and private sector employers.
You will explore how high-quality governance drives real change in tackling major global challenges such as poverty, climate change, food security and biodiversity loss.
You'll complete four core modules plus two optional modules over two semesters (autumn and winter) with a dissertation module. You can choose a short placement or a work-based project module to replace the dissertation if you have secured a suitable placement with an external organisation.
