Course Modules

• Reflective Practitioner: This module enables you to gain valuable experience within a sport or fitness setting of your choice. Develop personal and professional skills relevant for future employment.

• Behaviour Change in Communities – Theory, Policy, and Practice: This module will provide knowledge and understanding of health-related behaviour change. It will introduce you to a range of sociological and psychological theories and models relevant to behaviour change, and critically discuss their and strengths and limitations, application to health and physical activity improvement and promotion strategies, and challenges in practice.

• Developing, Leading and Managing Self and Others: You will demonstrate personal and professional development through meeting the practice competencies required in the Youth Work National Occupational Standards Area E: Develop, Lead and Manage Self and Others.

• Strategic Management: This module presents a systematic approach to the study of strategic management, building upon an array of ideas and theories ranging from industrial organisation theory to institutional economics. This unit outlines the fundamentals of strategic management and gives you an introduction in this important area of business management. You will gain an awareness of the issues involved and the techniques that managers adopt. The tools and techniques will help you understand how organisations achieve sustainable competitive advantage.

• Independent Discovery: This module allows you to conduct a research study of your own. After selecting an environment of your choosing you will collect, analyse, and interpret data from within it, turning all this hard work into a structured written format for submission.

A wide range of assessment methods will be used to test your knowledge and understanding. This includes essays, portfolios, practical sessions, reports, presentations, online discussions, and case study evaluations. You will be assessed on your ability to describe, explain, and analyse the role football plays within the community. This will be achieved through the investigation of previously published research, individually collected field-based data and specialist computer software and equipment.

If Level 6 study is taken, your time with us culminates in the submission of an independent Learning opportunity (dissertation project), in an area that supports your future aspirations.
