Fashion communication is about more than aesthetics - it’s about building brands, shaping culture and telling stories that resonate. This fashion communication course will guide you to develop the creative vision, strategic thinking and professional skills needed to build, promote and sustain dynamic fashion brands in a constantly evolving industry. Through this tailored degree shaped by strong industry relationships and grounded in fashion, marketing and media production, you’ll learn to craft and communicate compelling brand stories.

The course includes a work-based learning opportunity, supported by the Ravensbourne Employability Team. Integrated Foundation Year
On the Integrated Foundation Year on this course, you will be first introduced to the fundamental principles of fashion. Your foundation year gives you the time, space and support to explore your strengths, build confidence and prepare for the demands of project-based, industry-focused learning. Modules are as follows:

Module 1: Diagnostic exploration - making informed choices
Module 2: Technical - Technical knowledge in practice
Module 3: Specialist - Innovating specialist practice
Module 4: Integration - Integrated practice for progression to Higher Education

After you have completed your Integrated Foundation Year, you will study the following:

Year 1
Year 1 builds a thorough grounding in brand principles, fashion marketing, and campaign creation - exploring how creative concepts come to life across platforms. You'll develop practical skills across photography, film, graphics, illustration, and social media.

Modules may include:

  • Image Creation

  • Brand Communication

  • Space: Immersive Storytelling

  • Employability Professionalism Collaboration

  • Now: Trends Tribes Behaviours

Year 2
Year 2 deepens your campaign-building and fashion media production skills across multiple platforms and audiences. A work-based learning opportunity bridges academic study and industry - applying your knowledge in a real professional context.

Modules may include:

  • Artefact: Fashion in Print

  • Lens Fashion in Motion

  • Career Catalyst

  • Industry and Collaboration

  • 360 Campaigns

Year 3
Final year brings everything together across four assessed components, centred on a substantial self-directed Final Major Project - from initial concept to fully realised outcome. You'll also develop your professional practice and graduate with a polished, industry-ready portfolio.

Modules may include:

  • Applied Practice for Industry

  • Fashion Future (Innovation Project)

  • Employability/Professionalism, Collaborative - "Creative values: fashion ecosystems"

  • Sprint and Ideation

  • Individual Project / Final Major Project

All modules are subject to revalidation.

Modules

The Integrated Foundation Year introduces the fundamental principles of fashion, design and creative problem-solving. Through studio-based projects, you will begin developing the core technical and creative skills needed for future study in fashion.

You will explore key themes across four areas:

Diagnostic exploration: Making informed choices
Technical: Applying technical knowledge in practice
Specialist: Developing and innovating within a chosen pathway
Integration: Building an integrated practice to support progression into Higher Education

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
