Our BA (Hons) Media Production (Level 6) is designed to “top up” a Foundation degree or HND in a suitable subject to a full Bachelor’s degree. This programme will give you the skills you need to become an industry-ready professional in the creative media sector.
This programme is designed to develop and hone your proven media production skills and give you an exceptional understanding of the creative industries. You will be challenged to work on live briefs and learn how to work with clients, preparing you for a freelance career in the sector, or permanent employment in this exciting industry.
You will develop an in-depth understanding of a range of media, technologies, and processes and their use within the emerging and traditional fields of media production. This programme will equip you with the professional and transferable skills you need to pursue a career in the creative industries, working for yourself or for others.
A lively and experimental approach is encouraged, so that you develop the skills and confidence to make judgements and arrive at successful solutions to creative problems.
You’ll be able to develop a distinctive creative and professional approach to your use of technical production equipment, hardware and software. You will have a clear understanding of professional practice, including ethical codes of conduct and concepts of intellectual property and entrepreneurship.
At the end of this Level 6 programme, you will be able to communicate complex ideas, information, arguments and analysis effectively and in a professional manner to a wide range of specialist and non-specialist audiences. You’ll be able to work independently, and to reflect on and evaluate your individual practice, and successfully communicate your ideas in both commercially commissioned and self-generated contexts.
You’ll be able to consistently demonstrate a wide range of transferable skills to enhance your employability, including confident and effective decision-making, successful problem-solving of complex issues, and the ability to work collaboratively.
There are no exams on this programme and your final dissertation or practice-based research project will give you the opportunity to showcase your research skills and your understanding in your choice of subject, defining your own research question and enquiry.
You will be based at our brand new University Centre at our WISE campus in Bristol, which is well equipped with media suites, as well as a cybercafé, learning resource centre and many other facilities.
