A University of Hertfordshire research degree is an internationally recognised degree signifying high levels of achievement in research. It develops extensive subject expertise and independent research skills which are honed over an extended period, depending on the level of the award.
You undertake an original research project for the duration of the degree, under the supervision and guidance of two or more academic members of staff. You are also supported by attendance at the University's Generic Training courses, postgraduate seminar series run at Hertfordshire and the Institute of Historical Research and at an annual research weekend in Windsor Great Park. During the course of the degree, you are given opportunities to present your work at major conferences.
Research areas include: Witchcraft; film history; the Cold War; Italian history; London, crime and poverty 1700-1900; social economic and political history of Britain.
