This will be combined with exploring contemporary economic issues and learning the theory needed to engage in current economic debates. You'll analyse and assess different types of evidence, including economic data, and carry out an economics project. On completion, you’ll be able to apply economic and social theories and analytical techniques to topics that affect individuals and society.
Key features of the course
Specialise in economics within a broad interdisciplinary social sciences degree.
Gain an understanding of economic theory applicable to real-world problems.
Develop the skills to work independently and apply these to your own economics project.

At Stage 1, you’ll begin with a broad introductory module exploring key concepts, evidence and sources of knowledge in the social sciences, examining topics from criminology, development, economics, geography, politics, philosophy, religious studies, and sociology. You'll then study two modules, with one focusing on personal finance, and the other giving you a critical perspective on economics in our daily lives.
