The MA Musical Theatre programme is designed to bridge the gap between a degree or other relevant experience, and the high standard expected by employers in the professional musical theatre industry. Please see our website for MA course deadlines. For more information, please see our website: http://www.rwcmd.ac.uk/musicaltheatre
During the application and audition process, you must select which instrument(s) you wish to specialise in for the duration of your course. On this course, you can choose from the following options:
Only one specialism is studied. It may be possible to study a further instrument, but this will not contribute towards the qualification.
For all courses, you must select at least one specialism from the 'primary' list. For those studying primary/secondary pathways, two instruments may be selected – one from the 'primary' list and one from the 'secondary' list. Joint pathway students may select any two instruments from either list.
The following entry points are available for this course:
Candidates for whom English is not a first language are required to demonstrate a level of fluency appropriate to professional musical theatre training. For further detail see: https://www.rwcmd.ac.uk/study/international-students/english-language-requirements
Minimum entry requirements include either an undergraduate/first degree (BA, BMus, BSc) or equivalent qualification. The College is able to consider applications from people without formal qualifications who have an exceptional level of ability, practical experience and a good understanding of the musical theatre profession. Working in professional companies for at least three years would substantiate this.
Selection is made on the basis of an audition process in which candidates will need to demonstrate strong practical skills in all three areas of musical theatre performance - acting, singing and dance – with an exceptional level of ability in at least two of these disciplines.
