The Childhood, Education & Inclusion BA(Hons) at Huddersfield offers a flexible and rewarding pathway, with a multidisciplinary approach that combines education, childhood studies, special educational needs, social work, psychology, sociology, and social policy.

Throughout the course, you'll explore the nature of childhood and youth today, drawing on contemporary social theory and research. Key topics include:

• The voices, wellbeing, and development of children
• Social policy and children’s rights
• Youth identities and cultures
• Safeguarding vulnerable children and promoting inclusion

With the option to focus on specific areas like neurodiversity and autism, or supporting social, emotional, and mental health, you’ll develop essential skills recognised by employers across education, health, and social care sectors.

Career prospects
Graduates in this area go on to work in diverse settings, from early years to secondary education, and specialist roles like domestic abuse support, SEND case workers, and family support workers. Many also pursue further study, such as PGCEs leading to Qualified Teacher Status or postgraduate qualifications in social work or child nursing.
