Course summary

Train to become a strength and conditioning coach with guidance from industry experts. Our degree is recognised by the National Strength & Conditioning Association and International Universities Strength and Conditioning Association. You’ll gain hands-on experience at USW Sport Park and earn Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity qualifications to help you step confidently into elite sport coaching.

Learn how to help people move better, perform at their best, and stay healthy. You’ll develop practical coaching skills and open career opportunities across sport, health, fitness, and performance environments. This degree prepares you to coach wherever strength and conditioning is used. You’ll complete 700 hours of professional practice, build real coaching experience, and learn to use the same technology used in sport and health settings. By the time you graduate, you’ll feel confident applying your skills in the real world.

Designed for future strength and conditioning coaches, this BSc combines science, hands-on training, and expert guidance. It gives you the skills and experience you need to succeed and build a career in strength and conditioning.

Assessment method

Assessment on this course is practical, applied and skills focused. You will be evaluated through real-world tasks such as designing and coaching training programs, analysing performance, and delivering evidence-based interventions. At Level 4, assessments build foundational knowledge through written work, quizzes and structured practicals. Levels 5 and 6 introduce more complex, challenge-based projects, case studies and reflective portfolios. Formative tasks like peer reviews and coaching simulations give ongoing feedback, while summative assessments demonstrate competence in real scenarios. The approach develops your professional skills, critical thinking, ethical awareness and readiness to lead in the strength and conditioning industry.
