Cyber Crime, Terrorism and Security (Taught)

Our MSc in Cyber Crime, Terrorism and Security gives you the opportunity to critically examine the evolving landscape of technology and the online world; how these changes impact crime and deviance; and how to protect the cyber realm. You explore key areas in depth including information security, cyber criminology, cyber law, cybersecurity, ethical hacking and human rights. The course offers a learning experience that brings together the fields of digital technology and social sciences, developing your understanding of the technical and criminological impacts of the emerging technologies and digital trends that pose threats to security as well as the cybersecurity measures that protect against these threats. You apply your theoretical knowledge in practical, hands-on sessions, using simulated, real-world scenarios.

Cybersecurity: from concepts to practise – Understand cybersecurity principles, technologies and operations including cryptography, risk management and secure software development.

Information security, cyberlaw and human rights - Carry out security and digital forensic investigations, while following legal and other regulations.

Cyber criminology and terrorism – Develop your understanding of cyber criminology and the impact of digital technologies on criminal behaviour including cyber terrorism.

Research methodologies and project management – Apply project management theory and research methods in practice, working within legal and ethical boundaries.
