Course summary

If you’re interested in languages, global communication and helping others learn, this degree brings together the perfect mix of skills and experiences. At Manchester Met, you’ll study both French and TESOL, gaining a strong understanding of how languages work and how they’re taught in different cultural settings. You’ll be immersed in a vibrant, multicultural community, learning alongside students and academics from around the world.

You’ll explore how people learn languages, discover effective teaching approaches, and build your confidence in spoken and written French. With experts in applied linguistics and language teaching guiding you, you’ll develop practical skills that you can use in real classrooms and international workplaces. TESOL is a hands‑on area of study, and this course focusses on preparing you for real-world teaching and communication scenarios in your future career.

A standout feature of the degree is the chance to work towards the globally recognised Trinity Cert TESOL qualification, one of only two internationally accepted TESOL teaching certificates - a huge boost for your career. You’ll also spend a year abroad in a French‑speaking country, giving you the opportunity to become more confident, independent and fluent in the language, while experiencing life in another culture.

By the time you graduate, you’ll be equipped with strong language abilities, intercultural awareness and practical teaching experience, opening doors to exciting roles in the UK and around the world.
