Electrical and electronic engineers design, develop, test and oversee a vast array of technologies that underpin modern life. This course will give you the skills to design, create and utilise a broad range of technologies that are central to modern industrial, commercial and communications fields.

Subjects range from the traditional and renewable systems used to generate, process and apply power, to the hardware systems of satellites, drones, electric cars and robotics. This course also covers the underpinning software and electronics used in smartphones, computers, AI systems and healthcare technologies.

Accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), this course delivers strong graduate outcomes and competitive starting salaries.

Our course provides the professional expertise you need for a successful career in engineering or in a variety of other professions. Through a combination of lecture material and extensive lab-based projects, working individually and in small teams, you will build the numerical, analytical and technical knowledge and skills to meet the engineering challenges of the future.

All undergraduate students in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering initially follow a common programme of study, learning the fundamental skills of this discipline. As you progress through the course, the core content and practical projects will focus towards your area of specialisation.

You'll spend year three in industry, gaining valuable experience and enhancing your skills. This industrial year boosts your employability and professional development, with regular support from the university. This course offers significant flexibility to transfer to any other EEE strand after joining, where this is possible.
