Course summary

This Master’s in Biotechnology covers key fields such as gene therapy, genomics, proteomics, genetic engineering for plants, animals and micro-organisms, and bioinformatics.

This multidisciplinary MSc in Biotechnology brings together chemistry, biology and cell biology to give you a strong foundation in key areas of modern biotechnology. You will develop analytical and problem‑solving skills, gain practical laboratory experience and build the professional abilities needed for employment or further study. The course encourages a creative approach to developing biotechnology products and deepens your understanding of the latest advances shaping research, industry and agriculture.

Through the research project, you will strengthen your scientific expertise and contribute original ideas to applied research, preparing you for roles across the biotechnology and life sciences sectors. Graduates progress into positions such as Research Scientist, Biotechnologist, Laboratory Analyst, Quality Assurance Specialist and Process Development Scientist, with many also choosing to pursue PhD study or research-focused careers.
