Interior Design

If you’re excited by the idea of transforming spaces and shaping how people experience the world around them, BA (Hons) Interior Design at Manchester Met gives you the skills, creativity and confidence to bring those ideas to life. This course explores the dynamic relationship between people and places, encouraging you to rethink how we use, adapt and reimagine the spaces we inhabit. Through immersive studio learning, you’ll develop visual communication, model‑making and technical design skills that help you test ideas, solve real design challenges and express your creative thinking.

You’ll work on projects across a wide range of sectors, from exhibitions and installations to retail, hospitality, workplaces and interior architecture, giving you a feel for the different paths you can pursue. Live briefs, speculative design projects and interdisciplinary collaborations help you explore the future of interior design while building practical experience that prepares you for industry.

• Study trips and studio visits - You may have the opportunity to undertake study trips to key design cities such as Berlin, Venice Architecture Biennale, Milan Design Week, Copenhagen and New York. There may also be studio visits in London and Manchester across design practices.

• International exchange - Students have previously participated in exchange visits to Australia, Canada, the USA and Europe, broadening their horizons and gaining inspiration.

• Visiting expertise - You’ll have the chance to network with visiting designers and lecturers via lectures, projects and workshops.

• Collaboration - You’ll take part in an innovative module offered to students across Manchester School of Art which encourages interdisciplinary study, collaboration and external-facing projects.
