Why study this course?

Our Film and Television Studies BA will provide you with a wide-ranging knowledge and understanding of the film and television industries and their global, cultural significance. Through academic, practical and work-related learning you will develop an array of transferrable skills, preparing you for a wide variety of roles in the cultural industries or for further study.

The course shares a common first year with Film and Television Production BA that covers both essential academic knowledge of the film and television field and basic audio-visual skills. Subsequently, you can specialise in academic, historical and cultural analysis of film and television while also continuing with some practice and industry based learning.

Recent graduates have gone on to study master's degrees at King's College London, graduates have also gained roles in companies such as Netflix, Curzon Cinemas, the British Film Industry and a variety of production companies including Graham Norton's So Television.

Our Film and Television Studies BA teaching staff are internationally renowned experts in their field. Widely published, Dr Karen McNally specialises in Hollywood cinema and American television, she has collaborated in international research projects and has spoken about Hollywood cinema on Channel 4, BBC Radio and at the British Film Institute. Dr Leila Wimmer specialises in French cinema, her work includes a monograph and essays in a variety of journals and edited volumes.
