Course summary

Our PhD/MPhil Health Informatics programme enables you to undertake a research project that will improve understanding of Health Informatics.

Health informatics and data science is set to revolutionise healthcare by providing a deeper understanding between healthcare delivery, outcomes and patients as well as empowering people to manage their own health.

Manchester has considerable breadth and expertise in this field, being home to the MRC-funded Health eResearch Centre (HeRC), one of four in the country recognised as a centre of excellence in the field.

The main research theme that we focus on is managed self-care and wellbeing, which includes:

  • Stratified medicine

  • Healthcare systems optimisation

  • Clinical trials and real world drug outcomes

  • Digital health
