Course summary

The BSc Business Management with Law with Foundation and Placement Years is aimed at students who have an interest in developing their knowledge and understanding of the key aspects of business and management, coupled with an understanding of the legal framework that corporations operate within. This degree should be of interest to those students wishing to pursue a wide range of business careers which combine legal expertise including HR, compliance, governance, management, and business.

The degree programme is designed so that the Foundation Year provides an underpinning year, incorporating both academic and work/professional related learning, for applicants needing to improve their academic skills. The year provides students with knowledge and understanding of the key aspects of social sciences along with the necessary skills needed to participate in the undergraduate business programmes at levels 4, 5 and 6. This includes developing communication skills, digital and research skills, and understanding the importance of sustainability, diversity and inclusion.

The first year covers the foundation elements of business management. Years 2 and 4 cover the legal area in more depth and develops your employability skills. The programme equips applicants with the knowledge and skills required for a professional career in a rapidly changing work environment, while supporting self-awareness, personal development and providing access to valuable work-experience opportunities.

If taking a Placement Year, this will fall in the 3rd year of a 4-year degree. Students will have the opportunity to find paid work, putting the learning of their first 2 years into practice to develop and enhance real world skills to launch their career.

The emphasis in the course design is a focus on employability. Throughout the course students will get to develop transferable skills such as research, presentation, critical analysis, problem solving, team work and entrepreneurship. They will be equipped with the knowledge and expertise required to add immediate value to any business organisation.
