Chemistry is at the heart of some of the world’s biggest challenges, from creating sustainable materials to developing cleaner energy and safer medicines. Our BSc (Hons) Chemistry degree gives you the scientific knowledge, practical experience and problem‑solving skills to help shape these solutions and work towards establishing a career in chemical sciences.
From your first year, you’ll build a strong foundation in inorganic, organic, physical and analytical chemistry, while exploring specialist areas such as synthetic chemistry, catalysis, materials chemistry and green chemistry. This blend of core and advanced topics prepares you to apply chemistry in real‑world contexts, including sustainability and emerging technologies.
Our curriculum is shaped by industry needs, helping you build the practical, analytical and independent research skills employers value, including planning and conducting experiments, interpreting data and refining methods for different scientific contexts
There’s also opportunity to broaden your experience with an optional year‑long industry placement or study abroad opportunity, gaining professional insight and global perspective.
This course is also available with a foundation year.

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English Language or Pass in Level 2 Functional Skills English
and
GCSE grade C/4 or above in Mathematics or Pass in Level 2 Functional Skills Mathematics

Tuition fees for the 2027/28 academic year are still being finalised for all courses.
The standard UK and Channel Islands full-time fee will be £10,050 in academic year 2027/28, subject to parliamentary approval.
