The Engineering Doctorate (EngD) at WMG, University of Warwick allows you to address current global challenges affecting industry today. With direct access to collaborators and employers, the EngD will enable you to work on live projects sponsored by companies and carry out innovative applied research to industrial relevant problems with academic excellence commonly associated with PhDs.
Course overview
The EngD at WMG, University of Warwick brings real-world industry insight through focusing your research on industry-based projects, whilst working with supervisors from both academic and industrial backgrounds.
Your final submission will be in the form of a portfolio, rather than a single project, allowing for a broader range of knowledge and innovation and the ability to stay ahead of the curve within the changing needs of industry.
Alongside your research, you will complete taught Master's-level modules to broaden your knowledge in best industrial practice and develop key competencies needed to succeed in industry today.
Teaching and learning
Taught modules are normally delivered in intensive one-week blocks by leading experts in the field. They are taught through a variety of learning activities: lectures, seminar work, syndicate group activities, practical exercises and case studies to encourage teamwork and practical grounding of the material. E-learning and forum activities are widely used to complement the learning process.
Modules are assessed by post module assignment, not exam, although for some modules there may be a test that will form part of the assessment.
