Overview
Get qualified as a teacher while you teach on this apprenticeship scheme. Developed with local council support, this course offers a direct route to qualified teacher status for teachers in Portsmouth, Hampshire and West Sussex.
You can follow an apprenticeship to become a teacher of Modern Foreign Languages, Maths, English, Geography, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology. You'll need to have an unqualified teacher role in a Secondary school, or an offer of one, for the duration of your apprenticeship.
Recognition
Successful completion of this course will lead to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
A good honours degree or equivalent in a relevant subject. A minimum of 2:1 is desirable although applicants with other qualifications or valuable experience will also be considered. All shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview. Applicants have to undertake a reading, writing, and discussion test/activity as part of the interview process. All offers are subject to Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance and Occupational Health clearance.

| Cambridge English Proficiency | Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) (taken after January 2015). An overall score of 176 with no component score less than 169. | |
| Trinity ISE | Trinity College Integrated Skills in English (ISE) Level III with a Pass in all 4 components. |
Applicants whose first language is not English, and who do not have GCSE English language at grade C (Grade 4) or above, require the scores in any of the listed English Language tests.
