The BA (Hons) Education (Accelerated Degree) is a dynamic, fast paced degree that explores what education is, how people learn, and how educational systems shape society. You’ll investigate the psychology, sociology, and philosophy of learning, while developing practical skills that prepare you for a wide range of careers in schools, community settings, training, early years, and beyond.
Whether you aim to become a teacher, work in children’s services, charities or influence educational change via working in the community, this degree gives you a strong foundation built on research‑informed teaching and real‑world experience. The programme will equip you with a rich, holistic understanding of the educational experiences of children, young people and adults.
This accelerated education degree offers several advantages, particularly for learners who are motivated to progress quickly into their careers. By condensing the course into a shorter 2 year timeframe, you will gain your qualification sooner and enter the workforce earlier. This accelerated approach will be especially appealing if you are seeking rapid career change or rapid progression through a degree programme.
Course highlights include:
Learn about child development, metacognition, pedagogy, SEND, social justice and international perspectives
Learn from a range of guest speakers and visits
Gain real-world experience through a professional placement
Learn in alternative settings, including our forest school.
Year 1: You will study 8 modules over the year. Between May and July you will have the opportunity to complete a professional placement.
Year 2: You will complete 7 modules including a dissertation module which you study over the course of the year
The key to a degree, and subsequent career, in education and teaching is communication. Therefore, there will be a range of methods to assess the knowledge, understanding and skills you will develop on the course. These will range from traditional assessment methods such as essays and presentations, to more education specific practices such as creating plans and resources .
