Course summary

What is this programme about?

The BA (Hons) Arts and Visual Cultures with Combined Studies explores global arts and visual cultures through history and modern contexts. With a focus on creativity, visual literacy, and interdisciplinary analysis, the program combines theory, hands-on experience, internships, and London’s vibrant cultural scene to prepare students for careers in museums, galleries, media, and the creative industries.

Why should I choose this programme?

1. This is the only Arts and Visual Cultures programme in the UK currently that is taught on the American Liberal Arts system, with full US and UK accreditation, providing greater choice and flexibility about what you study.

2. Combine technical expertise in finance with a broader skill set, making you more adaptable, more employable and expands your career options.

3. Our location in London (with a short journey for managed accommodation) makes it convenient for exploring attractions, displays, exhibitions and galleries for enjoyment and for learning.

4. Global Perspective: Engage with international themes and practices, enriched by field trips and a diverse student cohort, preparing you for a career in the interconnected global art scene

5. All students can use our film, photography, podcasting and computer labs at no extra cost.

6. Learn by seeing, doing and experiencing hands-on – with field trips, visiting guests, and presentations.

What is different about Richmond American University London?

1.       UK and US dual accredited degree - there is no extra cost or travel required for our American and British accredited degree. American degrees are traditionally four years, but if you have completed Level 2 or 3 qualifications (or equivalent) you may be able to start in year 2 and complete in three years. You’ll receive two diplomas, one American, one British.

2.       Flexible, American style liberal arts curriculum and structure – you’re not limited to one main subject, you can have a major and a minor, expanding your options for graduate career paths and adding flexibility to study the topics you’re interested in.

3.       Friendly, culturally diverse community in stylish West London – our campus is great for learning in smaller class sizes and student experiences for your social, mental and physical wellbeing. Over 100 countries are represented in our community.
