Course summary

The sports industry in the UK contributes £39 billion to the economy, with a wide range of organisations from professional to amateur levels. As coaching science continues to evolve, this course equips students with the skills and knowledge to apply scientific methods in coaching, offering a comprehensive pathway for career advancement in the field. Whether you want to work with your sporting heroes, with children, or the general public, this course is for you.

This course, taught my experienced coaches and lecturers, enables a multidisciplinary study of sports science. You will develop your an appropriate mix of knowledge, understanding and practical skills within coaching as well as the sports science principals that underpin athletic performance.

Our facilities include an international sports hall, climbing wall, strength and conditioning room, 60m indoor track, indoor multisport facility and a 4G pitch.

You'll have access to careers such as sports rehabilitation and therapy, sports physiology and nutrition, sports marketing, coaching, athletic administration and sport promotion. You can work with athletes on sports performance, become a sports coach or teacher, or manage a gym or fitness centre. You might
be employed by a professional sports team, a local authority, the NHS, or a private fitness company, among others. You could also work for yourself.

Modules include Nutrition, Sport and Exercise Psychology, Anatomy and Physiology, Training, Fitness and Testing, Injury Prevention, Performance Analysis, Coaching Practice and Strength and Conditioning for Coaching. There is a also work experience module in the second year.
