Course summary

Our LLB Law degree provides you with the law knowledge and professional development skills you’ll need for a successful career. Learn from tutors who are internationally recognised for their work and who will challenge you to think like a lawyer from day one.

You’ll be taught the foundations of English and Welsh law while having a large number of optional modules that cover fields such as corporate law, family law, legal history, human rights law and technology law.

We have fantastic connections with law firms. Our annual law careers fair attracts firms such as A&O Shearman, Freeths, Shoosmiths, and Herbert Smith Freehills LLP.

Various student law societies hold networking events, such as their Dinner with the City and insight evenings. You could also get involved with pro-bono work or mooting competitions. There’s a lot on offer to boost your learning and employability while making friends.

Our study abroad offer allows you to apply for a year abroad in many destinations in Europe or further afield like the USA or Australia. Many of our partner universities are some of the best in their country. Students who do this love their time gaining insights into different law scenarios such as capital punishment (USA) or human rights for indigenous people (Australia). This experience sets you apart in the job market and makes you highly attractive to employers.

Our Centre for English Language Education is accredited by the British Council for the teaching of English in the UK. If you successfully complete your pre-sessional course to the required level, you can then progress to your degree course. This means that you won't need to retake IELTS or equivalent.

Contextual admissions

Universities and colleges consider more than grades when assessing applications and may make offers based on a range of criteria. Learn more about contextual offers.

We consider applicants solely on the basis of their merits, abilities and potential – we use exam grades to prioritise applicants but look at a range of factors and aim to give everyone an equal opportunity to show their achievements.

We understand that background and personal circumstances can have an impact on academic performance at school or college. Applicants who are eligible under our contextual admissions policies may be considered for a reduced contextual offer.
