The CertHE Media Production is a one-year course designed to introduce you to the creative industries and build a strong foundation in practical media skills. You will explore the creation of content for film, television, social media and corporate media, while developing hands-on experience in lighting, audio recording, post-production and photography.
Across the course, you will gain an understanding of key media practices and structures within different cultural and national contexts. You will explore how media texts connect to their social, technological and industrial environments, examine the development of genres and visual styles, and consider how media and communication continue to evolve in response to technological change.
Delivered through a flexible programme of workshops and project-based learning, the CertHE focuses on practical skills and professional development. The course is designed to prepare you for entry-level roles in the media sector or progression to further study. You will benefit from our strong industry links, including guest lectures and workshops from local media companies such as Happy Hour Productions and Offspring Films. Students also have opportunities to work on live briefs, creating content for local clients, including a range of Bristol-based charities.
