How do we design and build the future of engineering? Our BEng Mechanical Engineering with Manufacturing gives you the skills to create smarter, faster, and more sustainable products. You'll explore advanced manufacturing, sustainable engineering, and cutting-edge industry technologies through hands-on learning and real-world projects. In the first two years, you'll build a strong foundation in engineering science, manufacturing, and design, alongside mechanical engineering students.
This course also includes an industrial placement year in your third year, giving you the chance to gain professional experience in a company of your choice. Previous students have worked on projects such as designing robotic manufacturing systems, developing sustainable energy solutions, and improving high-performance vehicle components. Throughout your placement, you will remain fully supported by the university, with regular meetings with your placement tutor.
In your final year, you'll work on a major project to showcase your expertise. This course prepares you for careers in aerospace, automotive, renewable energy, and beyond. You'll not only master technical skills but also understand the societal and environmental impact of engineering decisions, learning ethical risk management and sustainable design.
Accredited by leading professional bodies including IMechE and IET.
Flexibility to specialise in areas like aerospace, automotive, sustainability, and more in your final year.
Opportunities to engage in impactful research in sustainable energy and advanced materials, plus get paid work experience with an integrated year in industry.
