You’ll gain a strong foundation in the pharmaceutical sciences, and learn how this knowledge can be applied in clinical practice, pharmacy research, and real-world healthcare environments. From exploring the human body to understanding drugs at a molecular level — and even making medicines in our specialist labs — your learning will be grounded in science, but always connected to patient care.
You'll also discover how pharmacists can lead in interdisciplinary teams, drive innovation in personalised and digital medicine, and tackle the biggest public health challenges of our time.
Becoming a Pharmacist: To become a fully registered pharmacist in the UK, you must first complete a four-year MPharm degree, followed by a structured 12-month foundation training year in practice. You must also pass the GPhC registration assessment to be eligible to apply to register with the GPhC and practise as a pharmacist. This course is your first step on that journey — giving you the scientific knowledge, clinical skills, and professional values needed to succeed.
Our course is built around the latest General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) education standards, and taught by academic and clinical staff passionate about making a difference.

Qualification requirements
UCAS Tariff - 128 points
A level - ABB
One A-Level should be a minimum of a grade B in Chemistry, and one other A-level in a science subject for example Biology, Physics, Mathematics or Psychology.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - DDM
in Applied Science (Biomedical Science, or Analytical and Forensic Science, or Physical Science).
BTEC applicants must be studying all of the following modules:
Principles and Applications of Science I
Principles and Applications of Science II
Applications of Organic Chemistry
Practical Chemical Analysis
Applications of Inorganic Chemistry
Industrial Chemical Reactions
BTEC applicants without the above modules will be required to have A Level Chemistry at grade B or above.
Access to HE Diploma - D: 30 credits M: 15 credits
Science, Medicine, Medical Sciences, Health Sciences- with 30 Level 3 credits at Distinction in Science or Mathematics units and 15 credits at Merit or above. This must include 15 credits in Chemistry units achieved at Distinction. Where these are not included, A level Chemistry at grade B or above will be accepted."
GCSE/National 4/National 5
All applicants are required to hold three GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English Language and Maths at Grade C/4 (Level 2 equivalents are not accepted).
Applications from those who have successfully completed a relevant Foundation/Preparatory Year will be considered on an individual basis by the MPharm Admissions Lead. We would generally expect a minimum grade of 60% in any chemistry modules.
