Course summary

Our Applied Biology BSc(Hons) degree combines core topics in Biological Sciences with hands-on opportunities to explore how biological knowledge, underpinning principles, modern experimental approaches, AI, and ethical values are applied to solve real-world problems and support a sustainable future. You’ll learn how biology contributes to tackling global challenges, from biomedicine to climate change.

On this exciting course, you’ll work with staff who bring expertise from across biosciences and use specialist, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities.

Why Study Applied Biology BSc(Hons) at the University of Huddersfield?
On this course, you’ll develop professional skills in practical laboratory work, problem-solving, data analysis, and independent research. You’ll also explore applied topics such as antibiotic discovery, personalised medicine, biodiversity preservation, bioremediation, and even emerging concepts like de-extinction science.

We’ll also support you in applying industry-standard methods and technologies, preparing you for careers or further study across a wide range of life sciences fields.
