Help realise a future that is truly sustainable and inclusive. This course is designed to be accessible to people from different academic and professional backgrounds. You’ll develop broad-based, interdisciplinary social science skills needed for careers focused on sustainability transformations. The course is critical and constructive, drawing on ideas and concepts from:

  • development studies

  • science, technology and society studies

  • innovation studies

  • political science

  • economics

  • geography.

You'll learn to translate a variety of socio-ecological concepts, research methods and innovation narratives into effective policies, strategies and practices for sustainable development. These skills are demanded by:

  • Governments and firms in the Global South and North

  • international development agencies and consultancies

  • social enterprises, not for profit and non-governmental organisations.

You’ll learn through extensive interactions with faculty in SPRU – Science Policy Research Unit, the world's largest academic body studying science, technology and innovation.
