The MA Human Resource Management with Professional Experience (CIPD Accredited) is designed for those wishing to embark on a career in HR/People Management and for those already in an HR position wishing to enhance their professional development.
During this degree, you will critically analyse the concept of insight-driven people management and development and its connection to the meaningful analysis of organisation, industry and global data. You will be provided with a critical view of contemporary theory and practice in your chosen areas and develop your ability to apply this knowledge to your own practice in a current or future role.
The course is taught by practitioners and academic experts informed by research and professional practice. Guest lecturers are also invited from industry to provide you with alternative perspectives, opinions, and personal experiences to enhance student learning.
The course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), allowing Associate Membership of the CIPD upon graduation.
This programme is a 24-month professional pathway, offering you a twelve-month (30-36 weeks) professional experience that is directly applicable to your studies.

What will you learn?
This course will immerse you in the full spectrum of CIPD HR skills, knowledge, and behaviours, giving you a strong professional foundation from the very start.
The modules are designed to help you build knowledge, develop critical thinking, and apply theory to real-world practice. You will explore key concepts and models, develop people management and development skills, understand the principles of professional and ethical practice, and learn how to effectively influence others within organisations.
In the final stage of the course, you will complete an Applied Dissertation on a Human Resource Management topic that interests you. This project allows you to apply what you have learned in depth and will be supported by academic supervision from the department.
You will gain hands-on experience through a 12-month placement with an external organisation, or by working on an applied HR project or consultancy challenge. Practical experience spans key HR functions, including recruitment and talent acquisition, employee relations, learning and development, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and performance management.
This hands-on experience will help you develop the confidence to navigate complex workplace dynamics and contribute to positive organisational culture and employee wellbeing.
