Course summary

The Foundation course provides a pathway to BEng and MEng degree courses in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and Biomedical Engineering. If you wish to study for Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Biomedical Engineering degrees at City, University of London, but do not satisfy the entry requirements, Foundation courses can be the first year of a four year BEng (or five year MEng) degree. The emphasis in the Foundation courses is on developing your study skills and ability in core engineering subjects.

The foundation year includes the following key modules:

  • Electrical and Electronic Principles
  • Electrical Science
  • Mathematics
  • C Programming
  • Study Skills
  • Electronic Hardware and Software Experiments.

Plus one option from:

  • Computer Hardware
  • Biomedical Engineering.

Assessment method

Assessment is based on written examinations, formal laboratory reports, technical reports and essays, class tests and oral presentations of project or software development work.
