Course summary

The need for scientists to tackle a variety of complex problems by bringing together the ideas of different disciplines has grown significantly in recent years.

Qualification requirements

A level - A*AA

A-level: A*AA including sciences relating to pathway. Where an A-Level Science subject is taken, we require a pass in the practical science element, alongside the achievement of the A-Level at the stated grade. GCSE: English Language grade 4 (C) and Mathematics grade 6 (B) or higher, or an equivalent English language and Mathematics qualification. We will accept Level 2 Functional Skills English instead of GCSE English. Other course specific tests: Extended Project Qualification, International Project Qualification and Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate: We do not currently include them as part of our offer-making. We do, however, encourage you to provide further information on your project in your personal statement.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Contact the Admissions Tutor to discuss if the course content provides required foundation for desired pathway. Pathways involving Mathematics will require Mathematics A-Level Grade A.

Scottish Higher - AAABB

Suitable combinations of Scottish Higher and Advanced Highers are acceptable, though Chemistry must be presented at Advanced Higher level.Typically AA at Advanced Higher Level and AAABB at Higher Level.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 36 points

7,6,6 at Higher Level including subjects which enable the study of 3 subjects in year 1

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H1, H1, H2, H2, H2, H2

H1 H1 H2 H2 H2 H2 - The subject combination must enable the study of 3 subjects in year 1.

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal - D2, D3, M1

D2 D3 M1 in 3 principal subjects, which must enable the study of 3 subjects in year 1

GCSE: English Language grade 4 (C) and Mathematics grade 6 (B) or higher, or an equivalent English language and Mathematics qualification. We will accept Level 2 Functional Skills English instead of GCSE English.

IELTS 6.0 overall, with no less than 5.5 in any one component.
