We are an active, research-intensive department whose work on questions about sexuality, identity, ageing, policing and hate crime is influencing public and policy debates worldwide.

Sociology has full 1+3 and +3 recognition from the ESRC; this includes access to three interdisciplinary Quota awards; there are financial opportunities for research students to contribute towards undergraduate teaching.
