Course summary
The BSc (Hons) Psychology with Counselling degree combines psychology with integrative approaches to counselling, including person-centred and compassion-focused approaches. You’ll be introduced to a range of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive, behavioural and person-centred approaches, before specialising in integrative approaches.
Our BPS-accredited Psychology with Counselling degree is an excellent foundation if you are considering a career in the social care sector. Graduates can build careers in clinical and counselling psychology in particular, after postgraduate experience and possibly Masters-level study.
A key element is the hands-on experience you’ll gain throughout your studies. You’ll be offered clinical experience on campus and have access to a range of exciting opportunities, including completion of specialist short courses, professional certificates and work placements – another great boost to your CV.
Our Psychology degrees are based at the Treforest campus. USW Treforest is surrounded by green open spaces. Our students say they love the warm and friendly welcome and community atmosphere, as well as the convenience of living and studying in the same place.

As a local student, I commute to the University, and I also have dyslexia, which makes it challenging to understand coursework.
