Law with Criminology (with Study Abroad)

Choosing Law with Criminology means you’ll study for a law degree while deepening your understanding of the connection between crime, criminal justice and the law.

Why do people commit crimes? How does society react to crime? And how is the law affected by it?

Combining the expertise of our law school with our pioneering criminology department, you’ll put theory into practice with real-world experiences. Advising real clients in our Legal Advice and Mediation Centres. Developing your court skills through mock trials in our courtroom. And using one of the only replica crime scene training facilities in the UK to transfer your theoretical learning into on the ground knowledge.

As part of this course, you’ll spend your third year at one of our partner universities in Germany, France, Italy, Spain or the Netherlands.

Where could this take me?

As with all our law degrees, many graduates choose careers within the legal profession, such as solicitor, barrister or legal executive. The criminology aspect of the course also leads naturally to careers within the police force, HM Prison Services or the Probation Service. However, if you decide to follow a path into other professions, the skills you’ll gain on this degree are highly transferable and well-regarded by other sectors.

You'll be assessed through a combination of written, practical and coursework assessments throughout your degree.

Written assessment typically includes exams and multiple choice tests.

Practical is an assessment of your skills and competencies. This could include presentations, school experience, work experience or laboratory work.

Coursework typically includes essays, written assignments, dissertations, research projects or producing a portfolio of your work.
