UCAS Tariff - Not accepted

A level - ABB

ABB including Mathematics or Further Mathematics.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - Not accepted

Access to HE Diploma - D: 30 credits M: 15 credits P: 0 credits

In a relevant area of engineering or physical science. Must include 45 credits at Level 3, of which 30 credits must be at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit or higher. At least 15 level 3 credits must be in mathematics (including differential and integral calculus). GCSE Physics or Dual Award Science (minimum grade B or 6) required if Physics not offered at a higher level.

Scottish Higher - Not accepted

Scottish Advanced Higher - ABB

ABB at Advanced Higher including Mathematics Two Highers at the required grade (in different subjects to those offered at Advanced Higher) may replace a third Advanced Higher. Scottish qualifications can be taken in more than one sitting. Students without AH Maths should apply for the BEng Mechanical Engineering with Foundation Year.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 32 points

32 points with Mathematics at Higher Level grade 5. Students without HL Maths should apply for the BEng Mechanical Engineering with Foundation Year.

Extended Project

We welcome applications from students offering an Extended Project and value the skills of research and independent learning that it is designed to develop. If you offer an Extended Project, it will be taken into account as part of your application profile, but we will not usually include it in offer conditions for this degree programme.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - Not accepted

Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal - D3, M2, M2

Typically D3 M2 M2 in Principal Subjects including Mathematics or Further Mathematics.

T Level - Not accepted

•If you already have, or are taking, the A level (or equivalent) Maths and Science qualifications specified in our entry requirements, you should apply for stage 1 (First Year) entry of the engineering degree course in which you are interested
•If you have a Maths qualification but will not have it at A level (or equivalent) when you start your degree, you should apply for the Engineering Foundation Year
Candidates offering T-Level, Scottish Highers (without Maths at Advanced Higher) or Irish Leaving Certificate Higher Level should apply for the Engineering Foundation Year.
