Gear up for a career beyond the assembly line. Our industry focused HNC provides you with the components for a shining manufacturing engineering career. As a part-time programme, our course allows you to assemble engineering skills and experience around your employment.

Our Manufacturing Engineering HNC introduces a range of engineering fundamentals and business knowledge allowing you to improve existing manufacturing processes. You will also be exposed to management training and how to apply it to the production environment to become a multifaceted production manager.

As you progress through our modules, you’ll develop an understanding of engineering in different contexts, you’ll also learn about different materials and their properties, as well as how to test them effectively and safely. You’ll cover production, manufacturing, and other engineering modules and will be able to take your career in multiple directions.

You’ll broaden your understanding of design, maths, and science, learning how these fields work in tandem in engineering. Progression from this course may include relevant employment, a Higher National Diploma (HND) or stepping into a senior position.

Assessment method

HNCs in Engineering are assessed using a combination of internal assessment (set and marked by Leeds City College), and internally assessed Pearson-set assignments (which are set by Pearson and marked by centres): In particular, the assessments include:

● One core unit for the HNC will be assessed by a mandatory Pearson-set assignment.

● All other units are assessed by centre-devised assignments.

UCAS Tariff
48 points

Typical offer: 48 UCAS tariff points from two A-levels (or equivalent qualifications), one of which must be in a relevant subject.

• A* to C grade in GCSE Maths, relevant A-levels, relevant BTEC Level 3/National Certificate at MM or above, also industrial experience will also be considered.
• English: Level B2 (CEFR), PTE 51, IELTS 6 or equivalent.
• Suitable reference (e.g. from line manager or tutor)
