Contribute to research focusing on finding solutions to a range of chronic inflammation-driven illnesses through a highly collaborative approach with University Hospitals Birmingham.

Work amongst renowned researchers to produce original and distinctive world-leading research, with the ultimate goal to identify shared biological mechanisms that define the functional features of acute and chronic inflammatory disease by integrating disease specific expertise.

By pursuing our PhD/MSc by Research you’ll gain high quality research training that will enable you to conduct independent investigative research with confidence and expertise. You can choose from a wide range of research areas within Inflammation and Ageing covering:

  • Acute infection and trauma-driven dysregulated inflammation

  • Critical illness and perioperative-driven acute and chronic inflammation
