Course summary

This interdisciplinary programme introduces students to the cultures and societies of Africa, Asia and the Middle East through their languages, literatures and screen culture. Students will choose to specialise in one particular region through their languages and module choices, with an optional Year Abroad at one of our partner universities. Students will also gain an excellent grounding in the discipline of Politics with a particular focus on Asia, Africa and the Middle East, studying the core subjects of political theory, comparative politics, political economy, and international relations, and applying them to the analysis of real world political situations. SOAS is currently ranked 5th in UK for Politics (QS World University Rankings 2020).
