Why Architecture?
Our ARB accredited Architecture degree will inspire you to challenge perceptions, bring your imagination to life and become a future-focused design creative. You’ll explore the history of art and architecture, visual and spatial design, materiality, construction, ethics, economics and digital communication. The course embeds design, technology and sustainability, as you work on projects with focuses ranging from micro architectural objects through to complex resilient super cities. You’ll have access to the latest digital software, BIM (Building Information Modelling), 3D scanning and printing as well as a dedicated model-making workshop. You’ll work in super studios with students preparing to become quantity surveyors, interior architects, urban planners, construction project managers and landscape architects, mirroring professional practice you’ll encounter in your future career.
This course is fully accredited by the Architects Registration Board until May 2027, which leads to Part 1 Prescription, allowing you to progress to subsequent accreditation stages and eventually becoming a registered Architect.
The unique urban and rural settings of Gloucestershire will offer contrasting historic and contemporary architecture precedents on your doorstep, and our course has been designed with input from local architectural professionals, as well as partners from across the UK and abroad. These links help ensure you’re aware of the latest approaches and ideas, give you opportunities to work with visiting practitioners and will allow you to showcase your skills to possible employers. There’s also the potential to benefit from intern positions, live challenges and employability skills workshops, helping you graduate ready for a professional role.
