Quantity Surveyors play a vital role in the building and construction industry around the world.
Quantity Surveyors manage the financial and legal aspects of building projects from initial estimate to final calculation. On the Quantity Surveying BSc programme, you will acquire skills in costing building designs, managing resource procurement, and negotiating effectively with partners.

Extended Degree
This extended degree provides an alternative route to higher education and supports those who may not yet meet the standard entry requirements for an undergraduate degree. It includes a foundation year where you will experience first-hand knowledge of architecture, interior architecture, the built environment, and their wider environmental context. You will develop core academic and practical skills that prepare you for the subject, while building confidence in your creative thinking, problem-solving, and technical communication.
What will I learn in my Foundation Year?
During the foundation year, you will explore essential concepts and current debates in architecture and the built environment. You will learn about real world practices in spatial design, sustainability, materials, and the impact of the built environment on people and communities. Learning takes place through a blend of studio work, lectures, seminars, and hands-on workshops, giving you the opportunity to explore design thinking and develop practical skills with industry-standard tools and technology.
The foundation year of the course delivered at level 3 which develops your ability to study in Higher Education is not accredited. Subsequent levels and years are accredited and deliver the knowledge, competencies, and skills required to meet the specific course accreditation requirements that relate to the approved accredited award title.
