Course summary

Course Information
Start your journey into the dynamic world of film and television with this Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Film & Television. Designed for aspiring creatives, this one-year vocational course provides the perfect foundation for a career in the industry or progression to higher-level study. Successful completion allows you to move onto the HND and then ‘top-up’ to a full bachelor’s degree in Creative Media Technologies with our partner, the University of Portsmouth.
Set against current and emerging trends, the course combines theory and hands-on practice across all stages of production — from concept development and scriptwriting to filming, editing, and post-production. You’ll explore factual and fictional content through film, documentary, drama, and wider moving image entertainment.

Practical experience is at the heart of the programme. You’ll work on location and in our state-of-the-art facilities, including a green screen virtual production environment and a fully equipped TV studio with LED wall technology. Alongside technical skills, you’ll develop creative and professional expertise in single and multi-camera productions, VFX, cinematography, and editing.
