Course summary
Sociology provides a framework for the study of human behaviour, examining how societies are organised, how social identities are con-structed, and the issues facing some of society's most marginalised people.
Postgraduate research in the School of Social and Political Sciences is informed by the expertise of its team of academics, who have long-standing links to government, research organisations, and the voluntary sector.
Opportunities for research are available across a range of topics in social and political sciences. Current students' research projects in the field of sociology include:
• The Socio-erotic Capital of HIV
• Demographics of the 21st Century Free Party Scene
• Female Labour Migration and Domestic Work in Lincolnshire
Alongside our wide range of research groups, there is research supervision available across the range of disciplines within the School. Staff in sociology invite applications in the following areas:

University of LincolnAccountancy and Finance - BA (Hons)I have just completed my first year as an Accountancy and Finance student at the University of Lincoln. I took a gap year before starting university in which I worked and travelled, whilst deciding what I wanted my future to look like! After university, I want to either train to be an accountant, or a teacher, possibly in maths, business or my degree area. I joined the University of Lincoln's Athletics society in September 2024, which has allowed me to make new friends, and take part in many social and competitive events. I ran my first 10k race in April 2025 with fellow society members! I live at home and commuted to campus during my first year. I either walked, drove or got the bus to university. Arianna

University of LincolnPharmacy - MPharmHi I’m Ellie and I’m a Second Year Pharmacy student. I will be at Lincoln for 3 more years and plan on becoming a pharmacist when I graduate. I did A Level Biology, Chemistry, Maths and EPQ and I am very familiar with the clearing process due to my A levels not going as expected so feel free to ask questions around this subject too! Clearing felt very daunting at first when things didn’t go as planned on results day, but the process was actually really easy and ended up finding the university that’s best for me. Everything was so quick and it really helped me to settle into university lifestyle. So yeah, any questions you have about this I’m happy to answer :)
