The RSLE course adopts a broad definition of the term "second language education". It considers issues relating to the teaching and learning of modern languages in English schools and communities as well as issues relating to the teaching of English as a second, foreign or additional language across the world. The course enables students to combine linguistic and social analysis in their research.
Applicants for this course should have achieved a UK High II.i Honours Degree.
If your degree is not from the UK, please check International Qualifications to find the equivalent in your country.
This route is intended for applicants with a background in foreign language education. Applicants will typically have a good honours degree in a foreign language or applied linguistics. Some prior professional involvement in an aspect of the field of L2 education is preferred (for instance, in teaching, assessment or teacher training).
