This BA in Content Creation with Marketing, focuses on developing leadership and innovation skills relevant to a wide range of industries that are reliant on producing high-quality, high-volume content for digital platforms. Students will learn about audio visual production, data and digital strategy, consumer behaviour, AI, finance for business, environmental and ethics considerations, and more. By the end of the course, students will have the skills to strategically lead and manage content production businesses. The course is structured over three or four years (with an optional placement year in industry) and focuses on critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical projects applied to the growing industry of content for online platforms.
The growing presence of social media, search engine algorithms, and various digital platforms has heightened the need for skilled strategists capable of producing engaging content throughout different channels. Jobs in Content Creation with Marketing are expected to surge by 2030, with roles like Digital Marketing Manager, Content Strategist, and Social Media Manager becoming more prominent. A study by the UK government's Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport reveals that the digital sector is growing 2.6 times faster than other industries, underlining the necessity of qualified professionals in this field. The BA Content Creation with Marketing will equip students with the skills they need to enter this fast-paced industry.
This course will study core units in, Content Creation, Social Media Management, Data and Digital Strategy, Consumer Insights, Business Finance, AI Technology and Application and Career Planning; it will culminate in each student undertaking major research project that will allow them to develop an in-depth project in their area of interest, deepening their skills and applying their learning. This course also focuses on developing students’ competency in collaboration, effective communication, as well as their business acumen, making graduates highly employable in leadership and innovator roles.
Foundation Year
If you feel you need some extra preparation before the full undergraduate degree experience, this Integrated Foundation Year (IFY) might be for you. IFY is for those who may not have the academic qualifications needed for admission onto the degree course or perhaps want the time and space to develop a foundation in creative and conceptual skills. It is intended to be a bridge between pre-university study and the academic rigour of an undergraduate degree. After IFY, you will hit the ground running – ready to take on your chosen undergraduate degree course and lean into the learning opportunities.
Students enrolled on the IFY will be a part of a cohort with other students in IFY courses across the School of Arts, Media and Creative Industries Management. Incorporating opportunities for you to work alongside your classmates, integrating opportunities for collaboration and fostering professional relationships to carry you throughout your degree and into your professional practice.
