Podiatry

A Brighton Podiatry degree will prepare you for a rewarding career where you’ll have a positive impact on health and wellbeing as you assess, diagnose and treat conditions related to the feet, ankles and lower limbs.

This course is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Royal College of Podiatry, ensuring you’ll gain all the knowledge and skills needed for professional practice. Successful completion of the degree means you will be eligible to apply for HCPC registration and practice as a podiatrist.

You’ll also gain plenty of hands-on experience at university using our specialist facilities which include orthotics manufacturing and a podiatry simulation suite so you can learn and practise practical skills before you work with real patients and clients.

Course Modules

Year 1
In your first year of the podiatry degree, you will gain hands-on clinical experience from the start while building a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, dermatology and the core principles of podiatric care. You’ll develop essential clinical and professional skills, including infection control, communication and reflective practice, preparing you to work safely and effectively with patients in a variety of healthcare settings.

Year 2

Final year

In your final year, you will refine your clinical expertise through extended placements in multidisciplinary settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics and surgical environments. Alongside this, you’ll complete a research project, explore leadership and innovation in healthcare, and develop advanced skills in musculoskeletal rehabilitation and managing complex conditions to prepare for professional practice.
