Business Management and German at Aberdeen adds considerable career benefits to your solid grounding in business, management and organisations, giving you the competitive advantage of a modern European language. In Business Management, you will gain a wide perspective and thorough grounding in all areas of business, including skills in accountancy and statistics. Your knowledge will develop in the dynamic, international environment of our Business School of over 40 nationalities, inspired by staff who are leaders in business practice and theory, financial markets, corporate finance, and global economics. You will benefit from small classes and the support of dedicated careers advisers.
You will benefit from professional training facilities, such as our Bloomberg finance lab, used by major financial services companies across the world, integrating real activity in financial markets directly into students’ courses.
German at Aberdeen has an outstanding reputation with the highest possible rating of ‘Excellent’ in the last national Teaching Quality Assessment. You will develop your language skills, taught by native speakers from German and Austria and match this with a broad understanding of Germany’s complex history, and culture in today’s German-speaking world. As an integral part of your 4-year programme, you will spend half of year three developing your language skills as a teaching assistant or visiting student in a German-speaking country. You will have many opportunities to practise your developing language skills informally through the German Society and Drama Group.
On graduation, your combination of skills and experience will give you many choices. Should you opt for a career in business, you will offer a distinct advantage for employers and business organisations operating in Europe, including the European Commission. Other options include tourism and education.

The use of various forms of assessment and learning environments facilitates the development of generic transferable skills enhancing student employability.
Students are assessed by any combination of three assessment methods: coursework such as essays and reports completed throughout the course; practical assessments of the skills and competencies they learn on the course; and written examinations at the end of each course. The exact mix of these methods differs between subject areas, years of study and individual courses.
Honours projects are typically assessed on the basis of a written dissertation.

There is no formal requirement for entry to the German beginners' course. A pass in German at SQA Higher, GCE A Level or equivalent is necessary for entry to the German non-beginners course.
