Our integrated Master’s in Mathematics with a Year in Industry provides a rigorous foundation in advanced mathematical theory and its applications. You’ll develop a well-rounded knowledge of key subdisciplines while having the flexibility to specialise in areas that interest you.
In your first and second years, you'll cover core subjects like calculus, algebra, probability, and statistics. From your second year onwards, you can choose to specialise in specific areas or explore a broad range of subjects with extensive options in your fourth year. The course equips you with a highly sought-after skillset, enabling you to apply creative and deductive thinking to a range of exciting careers, including in emerging technologies such as big data and AI.
You will spend your third year gaining valuable work experience with a year-long placement at a UK company before returning to complete your final two years with us. Finding an industry placement will require you to be resourceful and engaged. The Faculty has dedicated placement support providing advice and host employer-led events, ensuring you have all the tools to secure the right placement for you.
You'll also apply your knowledge directly to a dissertation, working one-on-one with a world-class expert in the field, and through an in-depth, six-month project in your fourth year, where you'll tackle a problem at the frontiers of research.
