Course summary

This is a progression course from the Engineering - Mechanical HNC

The programme will assist those looking to develop a career as a Mechanical design, maintenance or test engineer. During the course you will enhance your problem solving skills by studying topics such Further Mechanical Principles and Materials. You will also develop the skills needed to realise your designs in topics such as computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing. You will be using industry standard technologies such as Solidworks, Sinumerik and EdgeCam.

Based in the new state of the art Technology Centre, this one day a week programme will achieve a HND qualification in one year. You should either be employed by or intend to pursue a career in a relevant industry. You will study a number of core Units alongside your specialist Units. These units will develop your understanding of a wide range of engineering techniques and provide you with the analytical tools and concepts necessary to understand the technical and managerial issues you may face in an engineering career. You will also apply theories and techniques to real world examples.

Exeter College does not hold a CAS licence, and therefore is unable to consider applications from prospective learners who require a Student Visa. Non-UK nationals can be considered for courses as long as they already hold the Right to Study in the UK for purposes other than education.
